Thank you for your interest in the Troi Text Plug-in. This FileMaker^® Pro plug-in adds several external functions to FileMaker Pro 12 to 15: check spelling, parse out incoming XML data in FileMaker Pro and the SumText function to concatenate all text from a field in a related file. Also adds text manipulation functions like GetLine which returns the n-th line of a text field, ANDText, XORText, NOTText, UniqueLines, UniqueWords and SortLines.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Starting with FileMaker Pro 12 a plug-in can be installed directly from a container field. So if you are using FileMaker Pro 12 or later, installation is very easy: just open the "All Text Examples.fmp12" example file and the startup script will install the plug-in for you. See also the example file EasyInstallTroiPlugins.fmp12 (which is included in our .fmp12 formatted download package) which contains the actual plug-in and install script.

To install the plug-in for FileMaker Pro 11 follow these instructions:

• If you have not done so already, download the .fp7 formatted package from our web site and open it.
• For Mac OS X: put the file "Troi_Text.fmplugin" from the folder "Mac OS X Plug-in" into the "Extensions" folder in the FileMaker Pro 11 folder. If you have installed previous versions of this plug-in, you must remove them.
• For Windows: put the file "Troi_Text_Plugin.fmx" from the directory "Windows Plug-in" into the "Extensions" subdirectory in the FileMaker Pro 11 directory. If you have installed previous versions of this plug-in, you must remove them.
• You may want to install other plug-ins before proceeding. Then (re)start FileMaker Pro.

NOTE We have successfully tested the plug-in with FileMaker Pro 11, but we no longer provide active support for this version.

Troi Text Plug-in will display a dialog box, indicating that it is loading and showing the registration status. You can now open the file "All Text Examples" to see how to use the plug-in's functions.
There is also a function Overview file and a User Guide.

What Troi Text Plug-in can do for you

Troi Text Plug-in is a very powerful tool for dealing efficiently with text in your FileMaker Pro database. It will let you check spelling in a field, create a dynamic field that concatenates all text from a field in a related file, find all lines that are the same in 2 text fields or all lines that are different in 2 text fields. Additional functions let you find all lines that are in the first text field but not in the second, all unique lines of a text field or all unique words of a text field. Other manipulations include finding all lines in a text field sorted alphabetically, getting the n-th line of a text field and easily parsing out your incoming XML data files into FileMaker fields.

Troi Text Plug-in version 4.0 does NOT run on versions prior to FileMaker Pro 7. If you need to run on versions prior to FileMaker Pro 7: see our web site for the Troi Text Plug-in 2.1.6, which runs on FileMaker 6, 5.x and 4.x.

Using Troi Text Plug-in as server-side plug-in
It has always been possible to use FileMaker Server to serve databases that use functions of the Troi Text Plug-in (client-side): you need to have the plug-in installed at the client's computer. Now Troi Text Plug-in can also be used by FileMaker Server as a server-side plug-in or as a plug-in used by the web publishing engine. To use Troi Plug-ins as a server-side or web-side plug-in you need to purchase a special Server/Web license. See below for pricing.

Troi Text Plug-in is a commercial product

You can try-before-you-buy. This means that you are free and invited to test the plug-in 30 days before you pay. You may also make copies of the original and complete package (including this Read Me file) and distribute it to customers, friends etc. However, you may not distribute a modified or licensed version.

Use Troi Text Plug-in at your own risk

Although Troi Text Plug-in was tested carefully, we can not be responsible for any damages resulting from using this software. Also please try it out on a test database. Your system may be using an extension (unknown to us) that interferes with the proper functioning of Troi Text Plug-in.

We like to hear feedback on the benefits and shortcomings of the plug-in. Please include the FileMaker version, the platform and operating system in your suggestions and comments.

Upgrades from previous versions

You need to use a 4.0 version of the registration. If you bought a license for Troi Text Plug-in on or after August 7th, 2015 the upgrade is FREE! Eligible users have been sent a new registration string. Contact us if you have not received yours.

If you bought a license for Troi Text Plug-in before August 7th, 2015 you will need to upgrade to use Troi Text Plug-in version 4.0.

All Troi Plug-ins are available for Mac OS X and Windows. When ordering please indicate for which platform you are ordering.

How to pay?

Paying for a license is easy. We have several ways to pay. More information on this can be found on the order page on our web site: http://www.troi.com/software/order.html. You can pay online with credit card via Kagi, who also accept PayPal, checks and other forms of payments..

Protection and unlocking the application

Troi Text Plug-in has a protection scheme. After you pay Troi Automatisering will tell you how to indicate to Troi Text Plug-in that you have paid the license fee.

After you've supplied the payment data, the following is changed:

• the not registered warning is replaced by your name.
• the flash screen that shows at the first time the plug-in is used is removed. Of course also the delay (which is longer after 30 days of use) will be removed.
