Welcome
Welcome to PhotoNotes! This application provides an
easy way to attach labels to your favorite photos, find
photos of a person in your Mac OS X Address Book via
Spotlight and share your notes on the web. This guide will
get you started quickly, should you have additional
questions or problems, support is available on the
omz:software website.
Have fun!
Quick Start
Import: First, you need some photos
in your document. The easiest way ist to
drag them
into your document's window from iPhoto or the
Finder. Simply select the photos you'd like to import and
drag them into the PhotoNotes window. With the new iPhoto 08 you
can simply drag an Event's key photo in the PhotoNotes document window
to import all of this event's photos.
You can create several PhotoNotes documents using the File menu. It is
recommended to use documents in a similar way to iPhoto
Albums or Events. Documents are automatically indexed by Spotlight,
so you can easily find a document containing a specific
label or person. Opening the document from Spotlight
automatically shows the person or label you searched for in
the document.
Add some Labels: When you have
imported some photos, it's time to add labels. Simply
double-click a photo to open it in the edit
mode. Then
drag a frame around the person
or object you want to attach the label to. A
dialog appears where you can select a person from your
Address Book or enter a comment.
If you have saved the person's birthday, the age at the
time the photo was shot will be displayed next to the name.
After you created a label, you can move it around by dragging its frame or
resize it by dragging the bottom right corner. To delete a label, select it
and press the delete or backspace key. The same applies to photos you want to
remove from the document (the original photos won't be touched).
You can undo every operation by choosing "Undo" from the "Edit" menu (or Command-Z).
Click "Done" to return to the list of photos to edit
another or use the arrow buttons to navigate through the
list without leaving the edit view.
Have a closer look: Persons you
marked on photos will automatically appear in the sidebar
of your document. When you select a person, all photos
containing that person will show up and the person will be
highlighted on the preview. If the person has a birthday in
your Address Book, his or her age on each photo will also
be displayed below the thumbnail. This is a great way to
watch your children (or grandchildren) grow.
You can also use the "Filter" textfield at the bottom of
the window to look for specific labels or to find a photo
on which two specific persons are shown. This textfield
will be automatically filled when you open a document from
Spotlight and searched for a comment label (otherwise the
person you searched for will be highlighted).
If you want to share a photo's labels, you can easily do so
by clicking the "Export to HTML" button in the edit view.
You can enter a title, specify the colors of the labels and
how you want them to show up. In a photo meant to be
displayed on the web, it might be appropriate to only
display person's first names. When you click "Saveā¦" in the
Export dialog, you will be prompted to enter a filename for
the HTML page. The exported page consists of this file and
a resized version of the photo that is automatically
created in the same folder.
