We've been using 960.gs for such a long time at Paravel, it made sense to just modify what we knew as we made the transition over to Responsive Web Design.
Foldy 960 is not Yet-Another-CSS-Framework and we hesitate to use the term 'boilerplate'. This is just a little kit to get you going if you're headed down a responsive route and love 960 as much as we do.
3 column grid
3 columns are a little easier to work with than 12 or 16. We also keep this as simple as possible, stripping out any prefix/suffix stuff.
Pad your content
.content-pad-left & .content-pad-right exist so you can add more padding to a block of content if needed.
.grid_right
Floating content right instead of left is helpful if you want that content to display first in the collapsed view. We have a class for that. See cat above.
